The book sheds some light on the emotions of the victim, from horror and disbelief to catharsis and elation after capturing the villain. Also, the analysis of Beethoven's music examples, to me are unequalled. Brewer has made a real contribution to understanding one of the most under rated contributions to 20th Century English literature.. I've listened to other grandparent tales, too, and written a few myself. The format of this series most closely resembles a “lead sheet”: a melody line is written out with the appropriate chords written above each bar.
